Meet Angelina: The Heart and Soul Behind AdaptiveAmputees

Angelina's journey began with a unique challenge. On her first day of school, she bravely told her classmates that their idea of a pet alligator wasn't a great one. Explaining her story as a 5-year-old to other 5-year-olds was no easy task! Despite this, she thrived in her childhood, engaging in all sorts of sports and activities. However, she couldn't help but notice that none of the other kids at school had a prosthetic leg like hers. This difference often left her feeling frustrated and alone.
In high school, Angelina found an opportunity to channel her experiences into something impactful. As part of a leadership program that required a project to "make a difference," she knew exactly what she wanted to do. Drawing from her own experiences of bullying and feeling different, she founded AdaptiveAmputees to promote amputee awareness. Her goal was to be a voice for amputees in her community, to ensure no one else had to feel the isolation she once felt.
Starting in 2010, what began as a high school project quickly blossomed into a thriving community initiative. Angelina spoke to countless students around St. Louis, sharing her story and spreading awareness. Today, AdaptiveAmputees stands as a testament to her dedication and vision, a community she's proud and grateful to be at the heart of.
Angelina's inspiring journey shows that with determination and heart, one can turn personal challenges into a powerful force for change.
